And not just through what he said.
Growing up, you watched how he did life.
How he treated your mother. How he handled anger, stress and conflict. Whether he showed affection, admitted when he was wrong, or shut down when things got difficult.
You learnt from how he treated you, too.
Whether he was loving, critical, controlling, unpredictable, emotionally distant or simply didn't know how to connect with you.
And what if he wasn't there at all?
Maybe he left when you were young. Maybe you never knew him. Maybe he passed away before you had the chance to build a relationship.
Perhaps you've spent years wondering why he left, why he never reached out, or what life might have been like if he'd been around.
Even when a father isn't present, his absence can still shape how a boy sees himself, relationships and the world around him.
Some men grow up repeating their father's behaviours.
Others spend their entire adult lives determined to be nothing like him.
Either way, you can grow into a man and still carry patterns, fears and beliefs you developed as a little boy.
And this isn't about blaming your dad.
He may have done his best with what he knew. He may have been carrying his own struggles. Or he may have caused real harm.
Whatever your experience, it's worth understanding what you learnt, what you missed out on and what might still be influencing your life today.
This free Father Connection Workshop is an opportunity to explore that relationship, recognise patterns that may have followed you into adulthood and begin making sense of what you want to carry forward — and what you don't.
Free access. Private guided experience. At your own pace.
You might know what happened growing up. But do you know how much of it you're still carrying?
Maybe your dad was angry, distant, critical, controlling, absent or simply didn't know how to connect with you.
Maybe he was a good man who worked hard and did his best, but there were things you needed that he didn't know how to give.
Or maybe you've never really questioned your upbringing at all.
But have you noticed how certain things keep showing up in your life?
In your relationships.
You shut down, get defensive, struggle to trust, find it hard to show affection or feel like nothing you do is ever enough.
In your parenting.
You hear your mum or dad coming out of your own mouth, even though you promised yourself you'd do things differently.
In yourself.
You overwork, overthink, seek approval, struggle with boundaries or find it hard to switch off.
In how you cope.
You keep busy, drink, distract yourself or avoid the conversations and feelings you'd rather not face.
None of these things automatically means you have trauma.
But some of them might be patterns you learnt long before you realised you were learning them.
You inherit far more than your DNA.
You grew up watching how your parents communicated. How they argued. Whether they apologised. How they handled pressure, expressed affection, spoke about themselves and treated other people.
Some of it you copied.
Some of it you swore you'd never repeat.
And some of it became so familiar that you stopped noticing it.
This workshop is an opportunity to start recognising what you learnt, what you've carried forward and what you might want to do differently.
Understand why you do what you do.
You might know your upbringing wasn't perfect. But have you ever stopped to think about how much of it is still affecting your life today?
In this free workshop, we'll explore how your relationship with your father may have shaped the way you think, feel, react and relate to other people.
And more importantly, what you can start doing about it.
What we'll explore
- Why you react the way you doUnderstand how your brain and nervous system work together, why certain situations set you off and why you sometimes react before you've had a chance to think.
- What you learnt from your dadLook at how your father's behaviour, his relationship with you, his absence or the environment you grew up in may have shaped the way you handle life today.
- The patterns you keep repeatingExplore why you might shut down, get angry, struggle to trust, seek approval or find yourself having the same arguments over and over again.
- What's been holding you backBegin to recognise old fears, beliefs and feelings that might still be affecting your confidence, relationships, parenting and decisions.
- How to start doing things differentlyThrough a guided exercise, you'll have an opportunity to look at some of those experiences in a different way and consider how you want to respond moving forward.
You don't have to relive your childhood to understand it.
You might feel emotional. You might recognise something you've never connected before. You might even feel uncomfortable or resistant at times.
That's okay.
There's no pressure to force anything, share your story or have a particular experience.
You can pause or stop whenever you need.
Just give yourself some uninterrupted time, come in with an open mind and see what you discover.

What other men are saying
FOUR SIMPLE STEPS
G'day, I'm Fabien.
I'm a Melbourne-based trauma-informed coach and facilitator, and the creator of the RESET Method.
Over the past five years, I've worked with hundreds of people through guided experiences focused on emotional patterns, nervous-system regulation, relationships and the experiences that shape who we become.
But I didn't come into this work because I had everything figured out.
I grew up around alcoholism, conflict and violence. I learnt early how to read the room, manage other people's emotions and keep things together.
And like a lot of people, I carried more of that upbringing into adulthood than I initially realised.
I've had to look at my own behaviours, relationships, coping mechanisms and the parts of myself I would have preferred to ignore.
So I'm not here to preach from a pedestal.
I'm here to share an experience that may help you understand something about yourself that hasn't quite made sense before.
I've guided more than 400 people through RESET experiences and worked with over 1,000 people across my coaching career.
You don't have to have a terrible relationship with your father to get something out of this workshop. You just need to be willing to get curious.
You don't need to be falling apart to start looking within.
- You know your upbringing wasn't perfect, but you've never really explored how it affected you.
- Your relationship with your father was complicated, distant, painful or simply not what you needed.
- Your father wasn't around, and you've wondered how his absence may have affected you.
- You had a decent childhood, but there are still parts of yourself you struggle to understand.
- You notice yourself reacting like one of your parents, even when you promised you'd be different.
- You struggle with criticism, rejection, boundaries or feeling good enough.
- You keep finding yourself in the same arguments, relationship dynamics or emotional patterns.
- You cope by staying busy, working, drinking, distracting yourself or avoiding difficult feelings.
- You're raising children and want to be more conscious of what you're passing on.
- You've tried therapy, coaching or self-development, but feel there's something you haven't fully explored.
- You're simply curious about how your past might still be influencing your present.
You don't need to know whether you have a father wound.
You don't need to have a dramatic story.
And you don't need to know where to start.
That's what this workshop is here to help you explore.
It's free. Come and see what comes up.
You might recognise something you've never connected before.
You might understand an old reaction a little differently.
Or you might simply leave with a few better questions about yourself.
There's nothing to prove, no story you have to share and no pressure to get a particular result.
